Fire and Smoke Damage Cleaning and Restoration

There are three types of fire damage. The first is damage caused by flames; the second is damage caused by smoke, and finally the damage caused by substance and the act of extinguishing the fire.

Your home insurance policy may protect your home (including sheds, free-standing garages, and fences) and personal property against damage from an electrical fire, a fire pit or fireplace mishap, or other accidental fires. Policies may also cover damaged trees, shrubs, plants, or landscaping.

This means you can be dealing with fuel residue smoke damage even when there hasn't been a fire. Petroleum residue is sticky, dense, and especially difficult to clean. Its odor is strong and offensive, easily ruining upholstered pieces of furniture when not cleaned promptly

A previously white ceiling and walls will be tarred black by the smoke and soot. If there is anything left to salvage, it must be scrubbed and cleaned extensively. In most situations, it's easier to remove and replace the damaged drywall and, if necessary, wooden studs.
